PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Thank you for your interest in the Sweet Briar Engineering Program. As you look us over, notice our strengths.
- We are small.
With class sizes in the range of 5 - 10 you will not get lost in the crowd, or become just another number. We care about each individual student. Our passion and top priority is teaching and mentoring the women engineers of tomorrow.
- A hands-on approach to learning.
We make the principles you study in the class room come to life as you apply these concepts in the lab, on real world industrial problems, on undergraduate projects and research, and on domestic or international internships.
- Projects that help people.
We want to give back to the world we live in. An example is a water development project that our students will design and then build for a small village in Guatemala in the summer of 2007. Every summer, our students have the opportunity to participate in a summer design project that will change peoples lives in impoverished areas of this country or throughout the world.
- Broad based and academically challenging.
We offer a broad engineering program with a strong background in mathematics that will, when you are finished, make you an ideal candidate for emerging jobs in industry, or to proceed on to an engineering specialty in graduate school. You also have the option of the Integrated Engineering Management Program, if your interests fall more in the business world.
If this sounds like your kind of school, we would love for you to check us out. You can e-mail or call Prof. Hank Yochum (hyochum@sbc.edu, 434-381-6357), or contact the admissions office (1-800-381-6142 or admissions@sbc.edu). We would love to have to visit us.
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Prof. Hank Yochum
